The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 places a ‘duty of care’ on employers and landlords to maintain electrical systems to prevent danger in the workplace. The demands on commercial buildings are high and, as such, it places a lot of stress on electrical installations. It is essential every five years you have a Periodic Electrical Test and Inspection in accordance with BS7671:2008 (The IEE Wiring Regulations). It will highlight for example, the extent of any damage to the system and the adequacy of the earthing and bonding of the main services and if there are any potential risks of electric shocks and fire hazards. We will supply an Electrical Installation Condition Report to record that you are complaint with current legislation.
Portable Appliance Testing is a legal requirement for all businesses and must be carried out at regular intervals. It is a relatively uncomplicated process and following a series of visual inspections and electronic tests, we will inform you as to whether your portable equipment has failed or passed. If any equipment has failed, we will always offer you a quote before we start any repairs.
Emergency lighting such as, escape lighting, standby lighting, fire safety signs and luminaires are essential fittings in all businesses, providing back up and clear guidance to escape routes when normal lighting fails. Our periodic inspection and testing of emergency lighting installations will verify that the emergency installations are in a safe condition and a record showing your compliance with current legislation will be supplied to you.
